Welcome to the BroadTalk blog

We can all relate to the big sigh Enid Hoggan accidentally let slip at the end of her first broadcast. Thrust in front of a mic and told to read the news by an enlightened boss who recognised the transformative power of hearing women on-air, Enid was apparently a reluctant player. But she did it! Now, thanks to Enid and thousands of unacclaimed gutsy women before and after her, women rock the airwaves across the globe.

But how well are we heard? Most importantly, are women successfully reshaping public discourse, moving it towards richer, deeper discussions around the big issues that matter: gender equity and consolidating women’s progress, empowerment and fundamental rights?

Welcome to the BroadTalk blog, a place where I get to do a good bit of pondering and hopefully you get a healthy dose of musing. This is a place where I’ll share some of the news and views flowing through the media space about issues and ideas we care about. Check in regularly to see who and what is on the BroadTalk radar and why! And just to keep you hooked, I’ll share the odd insight or two about the tough stuff… the intimate talk that doesn’t always make it to air!

Please, pop in and join me anytime of day. Let me know how you’re travelling in these turbulent and fascinating times. Reach out on our Insta, facebook or twitter or you can always email me directly hello@broadtalk.net
